Preparation Beyond the Obvious
Interrogating the script, tone, performances, visual language and practical risks before the shoot, so decisions are made with intention rather than panic.

Performance-led direction for short and feature films, music videos, commercial and branded productions.
Directing is the craft I intend to spend my career mastering. I am fascinated by human nature—the emotions we conceal, the behaviour that betrays us and the truths that surface under pressure. My work begins with understanding those things, then creating the conditions for them to exist honestly on screen.
Every project is an opportunity to sharpen my judgement and create work beyond what I was capable of before. I do not approach that pursuit casually. I prepare, question, refine and keep looking until the story, performance and image begin to belong to the same film.
The work starts with the script and continues through rehearsal, the shoot and post-production. Here is what I bring to each stage.
Interrogating the script, tone, performances, visual language and practical risks before the shoot, so decisions are made with intention rather than panic.
Recognising when a scene is technically complete but emotionally empty—and continuing to search for the version that feels alive.
Keeping performance, cinematography, production design, sound and rhythm aligned so the work feels unified rather than assembled.
Arriving prepared, remaining clear under pressure and bringing the courage, focus and commitment I ask from the people beside me.
Strong performances do not come from demanding “more” in the abstract. They come from trust, precise communication and a director who understands what the scene needs. I want actors to feel supported enough to take risks, while knowing that every risk is held inside a clear vision for the film.
Available for the projects below. We agree the role, preparation, shoot dates and post-production involvement before work begins.
Performance-led narrative direction for original scripts, independently produced work and projects seeking a director to shape the material from development through post.
Concept-led and performance-focused work built around the artist, the track and a visual language that feels specific rather than interchangeable.
Story-driven direction for brands and organisations that want their message translated into clear, emotionally engaging visual work.
Short-form, pitch, campaign and experimental productions that require narrative thinking, performance direction or a coherent visual approach.
Echoes Behind a Perfect Lens was an eight-day production that demanded constant adaptability. As circumstances changed and problems had to be solved, I learned to reassess quickly, communicate clearly and keep the production moving without losing sight of the story.
The most rewarding part was working closely with the actors to develop the characters, explore their relationships and search together for performances that felt honest within the world of the film. The experience sharpened my understanding of where I needed to grow and became an important step in the director I am continuing to become.
A project may begin with a script, treatment, concept or brief. Before committing, I want to understand what the work is trying to become, what it needs from a director and what the production can realistically support.
From there, the standard is straightforward: prepare deeply, communicate clearly, protect the performances and keep every department moving toward the same film. A strong vision matters, but so does the responsibility to adapt without losing the story.
Send the script, treatment, concept or brief, along with the project’s current stage and intended timeline. I will review it honestly and respond about whether I am the right fit.
